Resilience and Innovation Summit
Travel and Tourism is the third largest industry in the world, significantly contributing to global economic growth and job creation, as well as encouraging cultural exchange and understanding. The Resilience and Innovation Summit is set to be the premier international travel event in Southeast Europe for 2024, drawing global industry leaders from the Balkans, Caucasus, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and beyond. The summit is a platform for exchanging best practices and exploring business development and investment opportunities in the travel and tourism and its connected value chains in the region, with a special focus on Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The program for the summit is dedicated to two main themes, showcasing resilience and innovation across Bosnia and Herzegovina. The theme of destination resilience to drive sustainable growth emphasizes the critical need to understand and capitalize on global market trends, and adopt environmental, social, and governance imperatives. The event will delve into methods to enhance the resilience and profitability of businesses, destinations and the global travel and tourism industry and its connected industries.
To foster entrepreneurship and explore innovative digital solutions for global tourism Travolution has curated the second theme, shifting focus to innovation in the tourism sector, engaging the tech sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Southeast Europe that may be scaled up and adopted by clients worldwide.
The summit will also provide a distinguished platform for regional start-ups and businesses less than two years’ old looking to propel themselves to the next level, through an incubation-led pitching competition.

For destination success, it's paramount to scrutinize trade dynamics, ensuring their quest for profit aligns with the imperatives of gender equality and social empowerment. Cultivating a workforce capable of upholding a company's or destination's brand promise is essential and must be accompanied by empowering them with the innovation-driven skills needed to steer organizations, regardless of size. This must be done in an environment that fosters innovation and inclusion and empowers the disabled.

15:00 – 15:45 Plenary 8 Destination Partnerships Enabling Attraction of High-Value Global Visitors
While destination marketing concentrates on attracting visitors, destination management addresses the broader aspects of creating a robust tourism destination. Governments have to boost visitor numbers and improve the destination's brand image to increase competitiveness. However, marketing efforts alone may overlook the potential negative impacts of mass tourism and fail to sustainably manage the destination. Governments must deploy their strategies to carefully balance the economic, environmental, and socio-cultural aspects to ensure long-term sustainability and success. This session will show ultimately, integrating both approaches offers the most successful outcome, enabling destinations to attract tourists while preserving their natural and cultural heritage, benefiting the local community, and ensuring long-term economic viability.

While 80% of tourism relies on nature, it remains overlooked in the travel and tourism industry's planning and protection efforts. This session unveils the immense US$600 billion opportunity for economic growth by harmonizing tourism with nature assets. We will explore how positioning nature at the forefront ensures future resilience and a unique chance for destinations to diversify their offer while safeguarding natural heritage.
